The Adult Basketball program is open to Adults age 18 or over.
The program occurs on Thursday nights from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Memorial School Gymnasium.
Basketball usually starts in September and runs to the end of March the following year.
The games are “pick-up” in nature.
What usually happens is the first eight players arriving pick teams and start the first game.
As more players roll in we start a second game.
The games are played on the short courts in order to allow for two games at once.
We generally play 4 on 4 in order to keep the court less crowded.
The two winners from each game play each other on the “Winners” court
and the two scoring challenged teams play each other on the “Losers” court.
If more than 16 people come out to play, some players may have to sit out for one game.
Those players will automatically play the next available game on the “Losers” court
and the losing team from the “Losers” court will shoot foul shots to fill in any available spots.
The program has been in place for over 20 years, with the ages of the players
ranging from 18 to 70 years of age.
The skill level of the players ranges from novice to very good,
with the majority of the players falling into the intermediate level.
There is no formal registration process, but the program administrator will have
registration forms available at the gym and requests that all participants have a form on file.
