WHY & HOW: An attempt was made to steal an Adirondack Avenue resident's Nissan Altima. Perpetrator attempted to hot wire the ignition but failed. Vehicle was left unlocked. Victim's cell phone was stolen from the vehicle. Victim called cell phone next day and a female voice answered and told victim that if he wanted his phone back, he had to bring money to Newark and get it.

WHY & HOW: A Brooklyn Avenue resident had his Toyota pick-up truck stolen from in front of his home on Friday, January 19th during the evening hours. The crime was not witnessed. The truck was located abandoned on Tichenor Street in Newark on Tuesday, January 23rd by the Newark Police Department.

WHY & HOW: Between Friday January 19 and Sunday January 21, someone attempted to steal a work van parked in front of a Hudson Avenue resident's home. No witnesses to the attempt. Perpetrators broke steering column and attempted to hot wire vehicle. Coins were stolen from the vehicle.
