WHY & HOW: Sgt. Joseph Seylaz, Ptl. John Fedak and Animal Control Officer Brandon Metz investigated an anonymous complaint of an alligator being kept as a pet in a residence on Main Street. At the residence a three foot alligator was found inside a bath tub. The State Division of Fish & Wildlife responded to the scene and took possession of the alligator. It will be sent to the Popcorn Park Zoo for shelter. Steven Brennan was charged by the State Conservation for possessing a dangerous animal without a permit.

WHY & HOW:  Lewis lost control of his vehicle due to an intoxicated state and struck two utility poles and a guardrail on Devoe Avenue. He also had a failure to appear warrant pending out of Spotswood.

WHY & HOW: Ptl. Pfeiffer observed an erratic driver traveling north on DeVoe Avenue. Following a motor vehicle stop a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Upon further investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A 2/01/07 court date is pending.

WHY & HOW: Subject was found stumbling and apparently under the influence of an unknown substance in the presence of children along the railroad tracks adjacent to the Spotswood High School. The subject caused a disturbance that made the children flee the area.

WHY & HOW: On the above mentioned time and date, Ptl. Mayo was dispatched to the area of Irving Avenue for a report of a female who was passed out behind the steering wheel of her vehicle. Upon arrival, Ptl. Mayo found the vehicle, a black Mitsubishi Galant, idling and obstructing traffic. The driver, identified as Diane Lubanski, was slumped over the steering wheel. Further investigation revealed Mrs. Lubanski to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a alcoholic beverage.

WHY & HOW: Officers were dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident in the American Legion parking lot on Devoe Avenue. One of the drivers, Fred Huffman, was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI after police arrived on scene. The driver was processed and later released pending a court appearance. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time Patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Szymanski Drive. Upon investigation it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle were using suspected marijuana. They were also found to be in the possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. All three occupants were taken into custody, processed, and release pending Court.

The truck is described as a Ford F-350, blue in color with a snow plow and sander attached. The markings "A & A Landscaping" are on both sides of the truck.

WHY & HOW: On 8/5/2007 at 1938 hours, police were dispatched to the parking lot of Renaissance for a reported disturbance, which possibly involved the sale of narcotics. Upon arrival, police found a male and female in a maroon Hyu, and a second female in a separate vehicle. As police were speaking with the complainant, the male driver of the maroon vehicle attempted to leave. When he attempted to back out of his parking space, the driver nearly struck a marked police unit. He was immediately stopped, and when the investigating officers approached him, it was determined that he was under the influence of CDS. He was searched prior to arrest, and 2 hypodermic syringes and suspected heroin were located on the male driver. The female passenger was also found to be under the influence and in possession of suspected heroin and paraphernalia. The second female was placed under arrest for possession of paraphernalia and attempted purchase of CDS.

WHERE: Snowhill Discount Liquors

WHY & HOW: At 5:00 am on Sunday, unknown actor(s) broke into the Snowhill Liquors. Entrance was gained by smashing out the glass of the front door, using 2 very large brown landscaping rocks/boulders. Actor(s) made off with undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone having information in regards to this burglary are urged to contact Detective Joseph Vitale at 732-251-2121.

WHY & HOW: Dispatched to Madie Avenue residence on a first aid call for chest pains, Osadacz was suffering from chest pains and difficulty breathing. He was also found to be highly intoxicated. After being examined by EMS and Paramedics, it was determined that Osadacz must go to the hospital for further treatment. Inside the house, Osadacz became violent and punched Officer Fedak and Sgt. Seylaz. Osadacz was transported to the hospital and later to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center on default of bail. $25,000.00 no 10%.

WHY & HOW: On 7/21 at approximately 1851, police stopped a white Toyota in to the Pelican Plaza Shopping Center. During this motor vehicle stop, it was discovered that the driver was driving while suspended. It was also discovered that the driver was in possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected Marijuana. There were also several outstanding warrants for the driver. She was later placed under arrest for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was later turned over to the East Brunswick Police Department on their warrant.

WHY & HOW: Ptl. Lou Sarti and Ptl. Les Genovese responded to a report of a vehicle that struck/sideswiped a parked vehicle on Old Stage Road. Upon arrival, the driver was found in the middle of the eastbound lane changing his tire approximately 300 feet from the damaged parked vehicle. During the investigation of the MVA, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested.

WHEN: 4/16/07 @ 13:22 hours

WHERE: Manalapan Road

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time, Mr. Bracken was driving his 2000 Chevy Silverado on Manalapan Road when he drove off the roadway near Immaculate Conception Church. The vehicle continued down an embankment before plunging into Manalapan Brook. Numerous motorists stopped to call for help or render aid. Spotswood Public Work's employee Keith Foiles entered the truck to keep Bracken calm until he could be removed from the vehicle by Spotswood Police and EMS while the vehicle was still in the water. Mr. Bracken was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was also charged with DWI in a School Zone and reckless driving. Court case is pending.
