WHY & HOW: On 12/17/2009 at approximately 0546 hours, Officers Nichols and Det. Schapley responded to Karen Street for a report of a Hit and run. Upon arrival officers observed damage to a parked vehicle, which belonged to a resident on Karen Street. Officers observed white scrapes in the roadway caused by the suspect vehicle's damaged car. Officers were able to follow the white scrape marks from the point of impact to Myrtle Street, East Brunswick, where they located the damaged suspect vehicle and driver, Kristen C. Pariso. Through further observation, the officers determined that Pariso was intoxicated. Suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and released with a court date pending.

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time, police attempted to serve the above defendant with a warrant. Upon their arrival at the subject's residence, Ptl. Genovese, Ptl. Nichols, and Ptl. Desrosier were all physically attacked by the defendant who attempted to throw the officers down a staircase during a physical struggle. The defendant was taken into custody and transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge for treatment of minor injuries. The three officers sustained minor injuries during the attack, but returned to duty that evening. The defendant's bail was set in the amount of $50,000 with no 10% option. He was later lodged in the Middlesex county Adult Corrections Center in default of bail.

WHY & HOW: On 11/22 an officer observed a vehicle driven by Harris Khan going straight in a turn only lane at the intersection of Main St. and Summerhill Rd. Upon stopping that vehicle, the driver was found to be in violation of his provisional status. Further investigation revealed that both Harris Khan and his passenger, Maria Gozo, were under the age of 21 and intoxicated. Khan was placed under arrest for underage DWI and underage consumption of alcohol. Maria Gozon was arrested for under age consumption of alcohol. Both were processed at Spotswood Police HQ and released pending court.

Nichols observed a black pick-up truck on the property of Spotswood Service Center. the officer observed the vehicle leave the lot and drive north on Summerhill Rd. The officer then conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle for disabled license plate lamps. During the stop, two transmissions were observed in the bed of the truck. Further investigation revealed that the transmissions had just been stolen from the Spotswood Service Center. The transmissions were also leaking transmission fluid onto the roadway. The driver was subsequently arrested, charged and lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in default of bail.

WHY & HOW: On 9/06 at approximately 0152 hours police observed a vehicle traveling west on Main Street with a head light out and rear seat passengers seated on top of each other exceeding the number of passengers allowed. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, Nistasi, Zubairu and Pretz provided police with false ages and refused to provide the officer with their identification when asked. They were also found to be intoxicated while under the legal age limit. They were placed under arrest and transported to Spotswood Police Headquarters where they were processed and released with a pending court date. WHY & HOW: While investigating a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear lot of Shop Rite, police located three occupants in the vehicle who were smoking marijuana as the officer approached their vehicle. The three suspects, all juveniles, were take into custody. A further search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and an opened alcohol container. The female juvenile was also found to be in possession and an opened alcohol container. The female juvenile was also found to be in possession of a fake identification card from the State of Maryland. All suspects were processed and later released to their parents. A court date in the Middlesex County Juvenile Court is pending.

EXPLANATION:(Cause and Police Action) Driver of V1 was traveling west on Main Street. Driver V1 fell asleep and when she awoke, observed a vehicle in front of her stopped and waiting to turn left onto George Street. Driver V1 attempted to apply the brakes but stepped on the accelerator. Driver V1 swerved to the left to avoid the vehicle in front of her, went into the east bound lane of Main Street, struck the curb, which vaulted her vehicle into the air, sideswiped the pedestrian, crashed through the front window of Giancola's Motor Car Showroom causing damage to 9 pricey vehicles. The crash was called in by a Paramedic unit from Robert Wood Johnson Hospital who happened to be on Main Street at the time. Driver of V1 to be issued motor vehicle summonses.

The pursuit lasted for approximately 7.5 miles into Monroe where it was terminated in the interest of public safety.
