WHY & HOW: Sometime between the above dates, a Caterpillar front end loader was stolen from the Spotswood Shop Rite parking lot. The equipment has an estimated value of $75,000.00. It had been parked at the location by a contractor who does snow removal at the shopping plaza. Police are requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the removal of the equipment, or with any information related to the case contact the Spotswood Police Department at 732-251-2121.

WHY & HOW: Police were dispatched to Shop Rite for a report of an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, Jose Varga III was consuming alcohol and visibly intoxicated in the store. He was then placed under arrest, interfering with police by pulling away during the arrest. He was subsequently found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to ingest CDS and charged accordingly. He was also found to have a warrant out of Spotswood Municipal Court. After processing at Police Headquarters, he was transported to Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center. He has a pending court date at Spotswood Municipal Court for all charges.

WHY & HOW: On above date and time, Spotswood Police received a 911 call for a motor vehicle accident, where a vehicle left the scene, traveling north on DeVoe Avenue towards Main Street. Police located a damaged vehicle pulling into the Spotswood EMS building. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had struck a pole on DeVoe Avenue and fled the scene. The driver, Daniel Mancuso, was found to be impaired from alcohol and drug usage and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI and Consumption of Alcohol by and Underage Person. Police further found illegal prescription medication in the vehicle and charged him accordingly. The defendant was processed at Spotswood Police Headquarters and released to Spotswood EMS due to his level of impairment. He has a pending Spotswood Municipal Court date for all above charges.

WHY & HOW: On above date and time, Spotswood Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident where the driver had left the scene. The accident was said to have occurred at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Cleveland Avenue in East Brunswick, and the suspect vehicle was said to be a green Mercury. Ptl. Nichols located the green Mercury with damage on the passenger's side traveling on Old Stage Road, near the Shop Rite. The vehicle was also swerving and driving in a Reckless Manor. Upon conducting a motor vehicle stop, the driver, Daniel Todd was found to be intoxicated. He also did not have proper documentation for the vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to Spotswood Police Headquarters where he was processed and released with a court date for the above charges. East Brunswick police investigated the motor vehicle accident.

Prior to arrival, the subject fled in a gray colored Audi. The vehicle was located and the female subject identified as Svetlana Ashurova was arrested for Interference with a Borough Officer and two counts of Loitering following an investigation.

WHY & HOW: On above date and time Patrolman Nichols observed a vehicle traveling carelessly on Main Street with seven occupants in the vehicle, exceeding its capacity. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, an open container of alcohol was found in the vehicle. Dorwani, Adamcewicz, Knibbs, and a 17 year old juvenile female were all found to be intoxicated while under the legal limit. The three males were arrested for Possession/Consumption of Alcohol by Underage Person. The female juvenile was taken into custody for the same. The driver Paul Reed is charged with Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving, Failure to Use Seatbelt, and Uninsured Vehicle for not being able to prove the vehicle was insured. Two other sixteen female juveniles in the vehicle were not intoxicated and were released. Court cases pending on all above charges.

At headquarters, the defendant refused to blow for breath testing and became physically defiant while being processed as per department policy. WHY & HOW: On above date and time, Patrolman Nichols observed a vehicle traveling with its high beams on, blinding oncoming traffic. Upon conducting a motor vehicle stop in the 7-11 parking lot for the violation, the driver, Jaguan Owens, provided the officer with a false name. Further investigation revealed that Owens also had an Arrest Warrant out of Spotswood Court. During the motor vehicle stop, open containers of alcohol were also found in the vehicle, and 20 year old passenger, Darnell Wilson was highly intoxicated. Owens is charged with Obstruction of Administration of Law, Interference with a police investigation, open containers in a motor vehicle, and other motor vehicle violations. Darnell Wilson is charged with Underage Possession/Consumption of Alcohol and open containers. Both men have pending court dates.

Upon conducting a motor vehicle stop for said violations, the driver was found to be intoxicated and under 21 years of age. The driver, Naman Shah, was then placed under arrest for Underage DUI and Consumption of Alcohol by Underage Person. The passengers, Jugal Shah and a juvenile female were also intoxicated and subsequently taken into custody for Consumption of Alcohol by Underage Person. All three were transported to Spotswood Police Headquarters where they were processed and later released with pending municipal court dates. Naman Shah was also charged with the above motor vehicle violations.

The vehicle involved ran off the road and came to rest on the grass after striking a utility pole and traffic light. After further investigation, the officer determined that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The driver, Daniel Offenburger, was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI. He was then transported to Spotswood Police Headquarters where he processed and later released with a pending Spotswood Municipal Court date. There were no injuries reported in the motor vehicle accident.

As the Officer pulled in to investigate why the vehicle was in the parking lot of the closed church, the vehicle pulled out and on to Manalapan Road. the officer followed behind and observed a license plate trim which was partially blocking the lettering on the plate of the suspect vehicle. The officer also ran the plate and found that the vehicle was not from the area. After conducting a motor vehicle stop for the violation and to investigate as to why the vehicle was at the closed church, the driver, Elliot Stone, was found to be intoxicated. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Spotswood Police Headquarters. He was then processed and released with a pending Spotswood Municipal Court date.

Subsequent to Hoffman's arrest, the vehicle tires were found to be bald, making the vehicle unsafe to operate on the road.

WHY & HOW: On 5/11 at approximately 0459 hours, Patrolman Nichols observed the suspect vehicle traveling 50 mph in a 40 mph with a tail light out. Further investigation revealed that not only was the driver providing a false information but he was driving on a suspended license and had active warrants out of East Windsor and Trenton. He was also unable to provide proper insurance documentation. He was placed under arrest for the above charges as well as to answer for the warrants. He has a pending Spotswood Municipal Court date for the above charges.

WHY & HOW: The above defendant was placed under arrest by police after they responded to the Brookview Terrace Complex for a report of a disturbance. While taking the subject into custody, she kicked and spat on Patrolman Les Genovese. Due to injuries to the defendant that were self-inflicted, the subject received medical treatment at the scene by Spotswood EMS. While en route to the hospital, the defendant threatened to kill Patrolman Genovese and the two Emergency Medical Technicians on the ambulance. After receiving medical treatment for several days, the defendant was released to police and lodged in the Middlesex County Corrections Facility in default of bail on April 14, 2010.

Subsequent investigation and interviews revealed that the suspect Greenbaum did in fact remove two credit cards from the victim's purse. Greenbaum then charged various items on the cards at the Freehold Mall, and Cumberland Farms in Manchester Township. Greenbaum was placed under arrest for Credit Card theft and has a Spotswood Municipal Court date pending on 4/27/10 at 0900 hours.

WHY & HOW: On 2/17/2010 Love, Williams and Opher were arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in East Brunswick. During further investigation, the men were found to be in possession of heroin and pills. Williams was found to be in possession of weapons (a folding knife and metal knuckles). After further investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at 320 Katz Way. Additional evidence of CDS was seized from the home. As a result, resident Raymond Nichols and his roommate, Roy Dey III were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of drug paraphernalia. All subjects were subsequently lodged at the Middlesex County Correction Center on bail.
