WHY & HOW:  Spotswood Police Department was dispatched to intersection of Old Stage and Easton in reference to a motor vehicle accident (3 vehicles) with injuries. At the scene it was determined that a vehicle driven by John Williams failed to stop at the Stop sign on Easton Ave. Williams' vehicle subsequently struck a vehicle in the intersection. After causing the accident Williams attempted to drive away but lost control of his vehicle. Williams' vehicle struck a curb,causing him to lose control of his vehicle again, and crossed back across both lanes of traffic striking a third vehicle. The third vehicle subsequently crossed over the curb and struck a tree head on. Based on officers' investigation, it was determined that Williams was intoxicated (DUI). Williams was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the hospital for his injuries. A driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital. Williams was charged with the followings M.V. summonses: DUI, DUI in School Zone, Driving with suspended DL, reckless driving, failure to stop at stop sign, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report accident, failure to exhibit DL. Spotswood Municipal Court case pending.

WHY & HOW:  Subject was observed driving without her headlights on and traveling down the middle of the double yellow lines. She was placed under arrest after Field Sobriety tests were administered. It was later discovered that the driver had her 4 year old son in the vehicle at the time of the store. A Spotswood Municipal Court date is pending.

WHY & HOW: Sgt. Joseph Seylaz, Ptl. John Fedak and Animal Control Officer Brandon Metz investigated an anonymous complaint of an alligator being kept as a pet in a residence on Main Street. At the residence a three foot alligator was found inside a bath tub. The State Division of Fish & Wildlife responded to the scene and took possession of the alligator. It will be sent to the Popcorn Park Zoo for shelter. Steven Brennan was charged by the State Conservation for possessing a dangerous animal without a permit.

WHY & HOW:  Lewis lost control of his vehicle due to an intoxicated state and struck two utility poles and a guardrail on Devoe Avenue. He was charged with DUI, DUI in a school zone, refusing to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and drunk driving while suspended. He also had a failure to appear warrant pending out of Spotswood.

WHY & HOW: Ptl. Pfeiffer observed an erratic driver traveling north on DeVoe Avenue. Following a motor vehicle stop a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Upon further investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A 2/01/07 court date is pending.

WHY & HOW: Subject was found stumbling and apparently under the influence of an unknown substance in the presence of children along the railroad tracks adjacent to the Spotswood High School. The subject caused a disturbance that made the children flee the area.

WHY & HOW: On the above mentioned time and date, Ptl. Mayo was dispatched to the area of Irving Avenue for a report of a female who was passed out behind the steering wheel of her vehicle. Upon arrival, Ptl. Mayo found the vehicle, a black Mitsubishi Galant, idling and obstructing traffic. The driver, identified as Diane Lubanski, was slumped over the steering wheel. Further investigation revealed Mrs. Lubanski to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a alcoholic beverage.

WHY & HOW: Officers were dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident in the American Legion parking lot on Devoe Avenue. One of the drivers, Fred Huffman, was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI after police arrived on scene. The driver was processed and later released pending a court appearance. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time Patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Szymanski Drive. Upon investigation it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle were using suspected marijuana. They were also found to be in the possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. All three occupants were taken into custody, processed, and release pending Court.

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time, an Ellenel Blvd resident reported that his 1995 Ford dump truck had been stolen from the front of his home. The truck is described as a Ford F-350, blue in color with a snow plow and sander attached. The markings "A & A Landscaping" are on both sides of the truck.

WHY & HOW: A five week investigation led to the arrest of the above individuals. Anthony was charged with possession of heroin and a crack pipe and 2 counts of vehicle theft. Christopher was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe, 1 count of vehicle theft, 4 burglaries to vehicles, 3 attempted vehicle thefts and failure to appear. James was charged with possession of cocaine paraphernalia and failure to appear at Municipal Court. Bail was set at $10,000 on Christopher, $10,000 on Anthony, and $500 on James.

WHY & HOW: On the above date and time, Mr. Bracken was driving his 2000 Chevy Silverado on Manalapan Road when he drove off the roadway near Immaculate Conception Church. The vehicle continued down an embankment before plunging into Manalapan Brook. Numerous motorists stopped to call for help or render aid. Spotswood Public Work's employee Keith Foiles entered the truck to keep Bracken calm until he could be removed from the vehicle by Spotswood Police and EMS while the vehicle was still in the water. Mr. Bracken was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was also charged with DWI in a School Zone and reckless driving. Court case is pending.
