Spotswood Borough Proclamations

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Congratulations are in order for Patrolman Scott Hoover of the Spotswood Police Department for his quick action in saving a resident from imminent danger when he responded to a call involving a vehicle that veered of the road and into the Manalapan Brook; and

WHEREAS, on April 16, 2007 a catastrophe was avoided when police officers Scott Hoover and John Fedak were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Manalapan Road; and

WHEREAS, upon their arrival at the scene, the officers observed that DPW employee Keith Folies was already in the water attempting to remove the trapped driver from his vehicle. The officers jumped into the water to help free the driver but could not get the doors open. The water had risen to the level of the driver's chest. The Patrolmen broke out the rear window, and with the help of Keith Folies removed the driver from the vehicle; and

WHEREAS, this courageous action in averting what could have been a tragic loss to family, friends, and the Borough was an act of heroism, which deserves special recognition; and Patrolman Scott Hoover was awarded the "Meritorious Service Medal" from the Spotswood Police Department; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I Barry H. Zagnit, Mayor of the Borough of Spotswood, on behalf of the entire Borough Council and all the citizens do hereby recognize Patrolman Scott Hoover for his courageous action and exceptional service to the Borough of Spotswood and the Spotswood Police Department.
