PROCLAMATION


       WHEREAS, NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK began in 1974 as an annual celebration of Volunteerism, as time to recognize and celebrate the efforts of Volunteers at the Local, State and National levels; and

       WHEREAS, this year's NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK theme is "Inspire By example, volunteers both encourage those they help and motivate others to serve"; and

       WHEREAS, NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK honors all those who reach out to others through volunteer community service, and calls attention to the need for more community services for individuals, groups, and families to help solve serious social problems that affect our communities; and

       WHEREAS, our fine Borough has been fortunate for many years to have numerous individuals and groups come forward to unselfishly give their time, talents, services and resources to benefit our residents.

       NOW, THEREFORE, I, Barry H. Zagnit, Mayor do hereby proclaim April 28 to May 2, 2008 NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK in the Borough of Spotswood and call upon all citizens to recognize and acknowledge the contributions made by the many volunteers within our Borough.  Further, I ask all residents to look into their hearts and to contribute some of their time on a volunteer basis to improve the quality of life for others.
