The vision for the Municipal Drug and Alcohol Alliance is for our community to lead a life free of drug, alcohol, and tobacco misuse and abuse.
The mission of the Municipal Alliance is to improve the health, safety, and well-being of all individuals of the Spotswood Community by diminishing the misuse and abuse of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
The Alliance achieves this through a continuing process of community participation, collaborations, education, community awareness events, sharing resources, and delivering quality programs that provide encouragement to combat issues of alcoholism and drug abuse; and to promote improved relations, communication, and community service.
The Alliance provides alcoholism and drug abuse prevention programs to grades kindergarten through 12, outreach presentations for parents and educators, and develops community awareness programs through youth related activities, education, inter-generational recreation and volunteerism, and community-based celebrations.
The Alliance works closely with the Spotswood Police Department, the Board of Education, the Mayor and Council Committee, Spotswood Recreation Department, the Spotswood PTA, in addition to the Substance Abuse Counselors in the schools, community/religious groups and businesses to make our community feel safe, secure, supported, and not afraid to come to us when they are in need. We have many resources and preventive services for all of our residents and their families.
The Spotswood Municipal Alliance will continue to refine and expand existing programs, create new prevention awareness, and provide activities of interest to all ages within the community.
We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs conference room in the Municipal Building.
