Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:15C-5(a), the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) is charged with conducting “routine, periodic, and random audits” of government agencies. Pursuant to that authority and consistent with N.J.S.A. 52:15C-8c(3), OSC has established objective criteria and developed a risk assessment for undertaking performance audits of government entities and programs.

After conducting a risk assessment as required by statute, the OSC has scheduled a performance audit of selected fiscal and operating practices of the Borough of Spotswood for the years 2023-2025.  The objective of this audit is to ensure Spotswood operated efficiently and effectively and in compliance with laws and regulations, policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and employment contracts.  The audit will last approximately 12 months.
