TRANSPORTATION

MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION
The Spotswood Division of Senior Services provides transportation for medical appointments in Spotswood, East Brunswick*, South River*, Helmetta, Jamesburg, Monroe*, and Old Bridge* for Spotswood residents 55 or for residents on Social Security Disability.

You must be registered with the center to use this service

Please be ready at your scheduled PICK-UP TIME so our driver can stay on schedule.

This is a shared ride. We may need to pick you up earlier according to our daily schedule. You may also need to ride with other passengers.

This is a curb-to-curb service. We are not allowed to enter your residence or escort you into the doctor’s office. If you are physically incapable of meeting the driver at the curb, you must bring someone to assist you.

You must call the office if you are canceling your appointment so our driver does not make an unnecessary trip. You may call during business hours or leave a voicemail message, but please call as soon as possible.

To increase the likelihood of driver availability, we suggest you give the office notice of an upcoming appointment as soon as possible.

The suggested donation for this ride is $2.00 (round trip).

To arrange medical transportation, please call our office at (732) 251-3432 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. You will be asked to provide the date and time of your appointment, your name, address, phone number and your doctor's name, address and phone number. The first local apointment is at 8:30 AM, and the latest appointment we can provide transportation for is 2:30 PM, depending on the location of the doctor's appointment. We cannot provide transportation back to your home beyond 3:30 P.M.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
The Spotswood Division of Senior Services provides transportation to essential services, including food shopping, for residents 55 and over or on Social Security Disability as well as special day trips (residents 55 and over only.)

You must be registered with the center to use this service.

You must call the office to reserve a seat on the bus for ALL trips.

You must call the office if you are canceling your reservation so our driver does not make an unnecessary trip. You may call during business hours or leave a voicemail message, but please call as soon as possible.

This is a curb-to-curb service. We are not allowed to enter your residence or escort you into the trip destination. If you are physically incapable of meeting the driver at the curb, you must bring someone to assist you.

This is a shared ride. The time listed on the calendar, which is an approximate time, is when pick-ups begin. Please be ready at this time, but be aware that you may need to wait a few minutes until others are picked up.

There is a three (3) bag limit (paper size) for all shopping trips.

CENTER TRANSPORTATION
The Spotswood Division of Senior Services provides daily transportation to the senior center for scheduled activities and events (residents 55 and over only.)

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
You must be a registered member of the Spotswood Division of Senior Services to use the transportation service.

Seatbelts must be worn at all times. Passengers must remain seated until the bus is parked.

If you are in a wheelchair, you must be able to transfer to a seat or have a seatbelt for the wheelchair.

Due to confined space on the vehicles and in consideration of other passengers, please maintain proper hygiene.

Transportation may be refused to you if:
-
You engage in violent, seriously disruptive or illegal conduct.
-
You pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others including, but not limited to, having an infectious or communicable disease.
-
You display objectionable conduct including, but not limited to, being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs, or participating in any form of harassing behavior.

We reserve the right to refuse wheelchair transportation if:

​The wheelchair cannot be safely secured;
-
The passenger’s behavior or condition poses a safety risk;
-
The lift or securement equipment is malfunctioning.​​

PLEASE NOTE: Social Security disabled residents may use our transportation service for medical appointments, essential services (i.e. food shopping, voting) and transportation to the Senior Center for access to the County Shuttle. All of the above guidelines apply.
